Go Time! [D7, LE, Event; All]

Whoever of the Thunders are still alive have arrived, it’s time to go! Even as this occurs, Chouri is reading the scroll, and anyone still in the region deepest within Yume-Jigoku will be swallowed up into the scroll and bound along with her and the Champion.

However, that’s complicated by the battle going. If you can spot it, though, there may be an opening!

Rules: Magic may be used. All active PCs who are not planning to stay in Blue Lotus must participate. In the Escape portion, damaging spells may be used. All advantages, techniques, or other abilities that apply during battle for the relevant rolls apply.

Finding the Opening: First, a PC must find the opening that the Legions have created for them to escape through the chaos of battle. Roll Investigation (Notice)/Perception, TN 20. The first person to +succeed at this roll allows the group to move on to Escape.

Escape!: Now that you’ve found the opening, you need to go as fast as possible. PCs must choose one of four rolls to make – Defense/Reflexes to protect someone else, Battle (Mass Battle)/Intelligence to direct the group, an Attack Roll to beat the forces of Yume-Jigoku back, or a Athletics (Running)/Stamina roll to make a break for it. TN 20.

Failing this roll results in the PC taking 3k2 Damage. This damage is reduced by 1 for each success a PC makes on a Battle (Mass Battle)/Intelligence roll, +1 for each raise. This applies to all PCs who take damage, as following orders leads to less danger.

Success allows the PC to escape and takes them out of the event. PCs must roll until they either succeed or they are Out.

Dangerous Rescue: If a PC is reduced to Out, one who has succeeded at the event may risk themselves to pull them back to camp. Please wait until all other PCs have either succeeded to been reduced to Out to do this. Once that happens, a PC may make a Stealth (Sneaking)/Agility, Athletics (Running)/Stamina, or an attack roll to try and rescue an Out PC, TN 25. If they succeed, the rescuee is brought back safely. If they fail, the rescuee is killed before they can reach them.

At the heart of battlefield tactics was a skill at seeing and seizing opportunity, a true master could almost instinctively find her way through the chaos of a battle.

Makime was, in fact, a true master. She had spent most of the day after getting the villagers together observing the fog and listening to the various scout reports. At least the moment had come. With a signal she directed the samurai and villagers through the cordon...now she had to trust the rest on her fellow warriors

Sora did what he always did in these situations.

He held the line, standing fast against the forces of the enemy until he was clear to fall back.

Reo is used to riding herd on the flanks. A few timely arrows chase away people who would have been looking to dig in to the group's sides

Akutou finds a spot along the edge of the field, one that allows him some cover and just a bit of elevation.

His bow twangs, and an arrow arcs out.

It hits...something...familiar...shambling forward and trailing mutilated gore as it bleeds from a gaping hole in its throat. The arrow strikes where a millstone chafes away at its flesh, staggering it.

It falls to the ground, the blade that is its other arm sticking into the earth.

It twitches, but it does not rise.

Kumori had set in her mind that she would be the last to leave…

She rushed forward… Shining with the light of the Heavens… cutting down foe after foe and clearing the path for her fleeing people.

She continued to look towards the village.

Where are the Thunders… Where is he?

Another stroke of brilliant light and another downed foe…

She turned to look at the exit…

And then turned back towards the village…

She would wait for him. Fight everything that came… buy him time… until there was no more time to be bought.

Come on…

Yumi's air was not light on the tongue or soft ln the ear, hers was the quick snap of a bowstring or the jerk of a dodge. With training in the way of the bow serving her, honing her, there was naught here that would not meet it's end of it tried to stop her from cutting a path for herself to escape. Others might find solace in the path she forges through the enemy horde, and she would be glad for it, but it was for her own survival she fought as fiercely as the first time she came to terms with the fragility of life.

Yoshitsune Ayako, in full armor, guarded the left flank as the column of Crab moved out. Her axe ready, the young Crab grimly scanned the perimeter for threats. Pausing for a moment to make sure Kaiu Tai was keeping up, Ayako glanced over the rest of her charges.

Ayako’s expression softened when her eyes met Shizuku’s. She had promised to get the apprentice healer safely out of Blue Lotus Village, and earlier, they had hastily bundled up Shizuku’s few belongings before beginning this march. The march would take them not only out of the village, Ayako thought; but perhaps towards a new life.

Kyosei had finally shaken off the weird whispers that plagued him earlier (who was Wilbur? Why did he imagine his pony calling him that?), and gotten his wagon in line to leave. He made an effort to carry anything of interest, particularly anything that was brought from the town library, but didn't push himself to do so. Living without the knowledge was better than dying and still failing to get it out.

He pushed the pony to lead a group of people out, but found his way was blocked. And facing him was a small horde of enemies. He wasn't sure why he was targeted like this. But, he knew how to respond, summoning up one of his strongest spells, one he had modified years earlier to produce more punch against those corrupted in any way. He spilt his blood, and raised his hands, while beside him, a large, dark green, stone raised out of the ground. It whirled slightly, then slammed into the forces, freeing a hole in the forces large enough to ride through.

He couldn't really stop to help any that were unable to make it through the hole before it closed, not with what he had grabbed, and those that did make it through. He knew that both Sora and the daughter of Shiba were also here, and trusted they would also be able to get people out.

Nozomi had some shit to work out of her system. And she was going to work it out by pounding it out of the systems of the denizens of Yume-jigoku that were interfering with the escape of the samurai and the thunders in particular who she was escorting. She was trying very hard not to look too gleeful.

It wasn't working. She was enjoying this last moment.

Kai had hesitated until the end about whether or not she should stay, remaining within the seal as a sorta prison guardian for the horrors trapped within.

That might have been what Tiger would have done. Spider would have instead advise to reinforce the seal from the outside, with layers and layers of the silk dreams were made of: Stories.

A self serving answer of course, as always with Spider. But also the right one. Mortal Kai would eventually succumb to an eternal fight against the darkness, just slowing their regrowth for a few decades, a century at best maybe.

The web Kai might weave from the outside, if done right, may stand strong for millenia. A good story never truly dies.

Matsu would normally be one to stand and fight. But she was holding onto Kenji's body. She couldn't let him go. Roaring as she ran through the Dream.

Finally breaking through the lines, she collapsed. Breathing heavily. But she couldn't move anymore. She wouldn't let go of Kenji's body, no matter what.

Her vision was blurry, when a figure came and hoisted her up.

"Don't worry for your name. Matsu walked from this battle on her own two feet. I am a Yumi, nothing more. Today I am yours. When they tell tale of this day they will say that Matsu walked out of deaths door of her own volition with a Yumi in hand."

Satsuki made sure to round up her fellow Dragons with Hikaru, and a couple of others that seemed too wounded for her to not wanting to take the chance of them getting out safely on their own.

"Everyone, hold hands. I'm getting you all out of here safely." They formed a link by hands, and Satsuki let her blood drop to the earth kami as she commanded them.

"Bring us into the safety of the earth, and carry us home."

Leading the others, she plunged into the earth as if it was water, and guided them to safety.

Naraku slashed with wanton abandon on the minions of the corrupted. His eyes still shone with ophidian green and golden scales still glistened in his arms. The fight was over but he still had to save Ai from this hell.

Breaking out of the shrine was no easy task. The Thunders had run and fought their way, seeking safety on dangerous ground. Norikage continued on, avoiding the worst of it but was caught in a sudden press with the denizens of Jigoku.

Ready to sell his life, he stood firm, but then the light of lady sun shown, and of course, Kumori was suddenly there, saving his sorry ass once again with her sword.

"Took you long enough!" he shouted, cutting his way to her.

They ran for the camp together.



OOC: Apparently Kumori made a roll to save me. Because of course. Now i'll never heard the end of it.

Chu does not have an easy time escaping, not especially because she's carrying a red panda that's only just barely smaller than her. The cacophony of smell, sight, and sound overwhelm her senses and, for a brief moment, she's caught off guard as she tries to smite a hoard of the corrupted and... her magic fails her. For the first time. Her shriek travels far -- it's so high-pitched it hurts the ears -- as one tears into her, but she barrels forward, using her little body to shield Shou while still trying desperately to help the villagers, to help anyone else, escape.

She succeeds, but when she hobbles into the war camp, she's bleeding and crying.
