"Showoff!"

He hated to admit it, but it was good to fight beside her. It just felt... right.
“You’re not showing enough!” She yelled back with a smile on her lips.

“I told you all those books would make you soft.” She said warmly as she cut down another approaching demon.

"Now, now..."

He smashed another monstrosity down and put the boots to it.

"All your fault, you know!"

She heard him call down and looked over in the direction mentioned.

“Good work Otomo-san!”

She rushed to get into the proper position for the next wave.

“How the hell is it my fault?” She asked as she prepared for the enemy to turn around the corner and meet her steel.

Akutou grins and tips his hat.

Then he jumps to another rooftop, working towards a better vantage point.

He spies another figure on a roof, loosing an arrow of their own into an enemy. Norikage was keeping watch on the others below, trying to keep them clear of flankers so they could continue to control the area they were in and push out.

The Scorpion signals down next to another home, where in the morning darkness and chaos more targets are gathering to move out onto the street.

Akutou taps the brim of his hat in acknowledgment and moves as indicated.

Then he sees something and smiles.

He hops down between the indicated home and the one next to it and pushes.

The wall groans and starts to bow inward.

If it works, it'll reduce numbers a fair bit.

As a trio of villagers were fleeing from an effigy coming after them, an orb of flames soared through the street and struck the abomination with unerring accuracy. It burst into flames and collapsed as Satsuki stepped closer, her sleeves tied back to expose her arms (and keep them out of the way for any stray fire kami getting too excited). The dragon coiled around her arm shimmered, and the line of blood on her forearm glimmered with a golden hue.

"Go, go! Make your way to the camp on the outskirt of the village - we'll protect you."

Another bolt of fire reduced an effigy to ash. Nao stood at its point of origin, wrapping a cloth around her palm. She gave Satsuki a smile, then looked for any more threats.

Having bound himself to Satsuki, and having promised as much to Anjing, Hikaru stuck close to Satsuki, seeing to her defense. Not only was it part of the various vows he'd made, but it also made good tactical sense. If his sword allowed Satsuki to move and cast her fire spells more quickly, it was effort well spent.

He stepped briefly out of his place by Satsuki's side, his katana arcing in a skillful cut, bisecting one of the effigies. A pause, and he stepped back, standing next to her once more. His white lock whipped around wildly as he looked at her, smiling silently.

Satsuki nodded to Nao, and gave a quick but warm smile to Hikaru. "Let's keep moving, and see who else needs help, yeah?"

"I think that is a very fine idea indeed, Satsuki." Hikaru said. His gaze swept the area alertly, but it didn't stop him from smiling at his wife. "I rather enjoy facing evil by your side, you know." His brow creased. "Perhaps enjoy is not quite the right word... and yet, I cannot say for certain that it is the wrong word."

He did offer a bow to Nao. "Would you care to join us, Ryoshun-sama?" He asked politely.

Come on, dammit! Fall an' crush them sumbitches!

Kenji stalked through the streets his blade in his hands as he cut his way through what enemies he found. The time for the final battle had finally come and while he would fight, he'd take no risks. Not at this stage of things at least.

Too much was at stake after all.

Akutou is flagging, clearly.

Too many effigies are pressing in, now, for him to continue in this line.

So he moves off, fading back into the shadows...
