"That seems like a good philosophy," Ayako agreed. "Does it really cause your superior a lot of problems, though? I would hope that she'd see your honesty as praiseworthy."

"Well, it sounds like you are a good sport about it!" Ayako said, chuckling politely with him. "I hope I'm not nearly so much trouble to my superiors ... though, I suppose I probably still am, in my own way."

It was an excellent excuse to cause trouble.

"I, uh, I don't think my superiors think I should be challenging them all the time," Ayako said, hiding a small smile behind one hand. "I know my mother didn't see it that way. I'm supposed to, uhh, 'respect and obey my elders.' But maybe it's different in your Clan."
