But Makime definitely does not trust the villagers enough to tell them anything that doesn't directly involve them.
Sora will point out that any plan that doesn't factor them in is incomplete at best, and any plan that does directly involves them by definition.
They don't need to know the whole plan just their part in it. And Makime wants to keep that very simple...because farmers with a few hours training aren't exactly good at complicated war plans.

That part's true, but per our liaison, some of them have a bit more than that, and that's a good resource to be aware of

Carries:
Day to Day- A daisho, at least one scroll, a Nezumi Memory Stick, five fingers of jade and some dried flower petals.
Danger Imminent- Add light armor, a naginata, a yumi, and arrows.
Isn't the idea that you pick a liason precisely so that the villagers don't also have to come to all the meetings?
Doing both at once just seems like padding the stage for a crowd scene.
Just means Wu-san did his job and can go back to having everyone think he's sleeping with Chouri
And a liaison's also there for the day to day coordination, especially since the plan has the village and the camp as disparate units.

[*]Build and man a redoubt, or it's age appropriate equivalent up near the shrine to monitor the reverse slope and the surrounding area. This will be a samurai job because it's isolated and important. Again primarily during an emergency but depending on the view it could also double as a watchtower.

The villagers have a simple job. One that minimizes risk to them. Makime will meet with the woman and hear her suggestions, along with information about the town.
But including her with discussions on grand strategy is not something Makime will allow. She just has no reason to trust these people.

One hopes all you folks banking on the villagers being completely innocent bystanders is correct. Because if not, then we literally could be telling the enemy all our plans.

Let’s make sure that our IC perspectives and OOC perspectives don’t conflate themselves too much here.
We’re all magical samurai making our way in the world; having a good time.
Everybody’s got their own IC perspective. That’s what makes it all entertaining.
There’s reasons to be suspicious IC and there are reasons to be intentionally trusting despite shadiness.
The boss ladies have their policies that they are putting into place IC. That’s sweet and cool. And there will be people who may not follow them all to a ‘T’.
Let’s enjoy the ride!

This thread gets the IC perspective because we don't have a massive meeting thread. I have zero issue with any players.
Matsu, the character, is extremely suspicious of the population, especially after D3 and something creeping into the tent after eating the food.
If they are subjects and want the protection of Samurai, they'll know their place.
If they are an "independent community" and the village leader can't control people who have tried to drug us twice at this point.
Time to start putting "sovereign citizens" to the sword.
That they consider themselves not subjects of the Empire is all the more reason not to trust them with the full plan.
They know what they need to know for defense coordination. Isn't a liaison supposed to act as an intermediate anyway? Why do we need liaisons if you want to include their acting commander in the meeting?

So, I have this tagged partially because I made a Prequel reference in it, but I think it's the best place for this post. I think, D4, it's time to formally ask the villagers what's going on. There was already some weirdness going into D3, but a lot of it could have been coincidence, unconnected, etc. However, after D3 sleeping:
*With a very few exceptions, everyone who ate the food experienced sleep paralysis.
*Among those who did not, several saw an actual thing enter their room, a creature with needle hands.
*Among those who did... Hikaru at least saw something that was a direct tie-in to the fear that he put inside his wickerman.
Those are some very clear ties to the villagers and their festival.
This is not saying we should kill them, or torture them, or even assuming that they're responsible (although the food thing is hard to overcome). But something is happening, connected to them and the festival, and if anyone has any answers, it's them.
