Tai is not surprised at the very old and familiar nightmare that greets her. Hadn't the day's ritual brought exactly this to mind? The pain is a memory so old she really can't access it when awake anymore. The hot slick of blood and sound of shifting stones, a few groans nearby, and limbs too heavy to shift in the darkness feel as real as she remembers.
But tonight, she also readily remembers that this has already happened, long ago. If it happened today, she'd have other tools available. And so she murmurs a few words in the dream, feeling leaden limbs melting into the stone below instead of being crushed between.
She slips down into the embrace of earth, and quieter night's sleep.
