In truth the nightmare was nothing new. If this was the work of these dark forces they must not yet truly have grown to know him beyond the surface level.
Ahead his shadow looms and twists into a bestial form clawed and snarling.
But he has been here many times before. His center holds and he knows the truth.
The shadow is real but it is an echo through the ages. A curse that may be upon him but is not him.
Even were his mind to fall it would not be the truth of his soul and his mind would not fall. Not this night nor any night to come if his will remained pure.
At peace he returns to true slumber.
