Satsuki slept in early like she had the past days.
At first, the familiar terrors begun to haunt her.
Her surroundings were unfamiliar at first, but after a moment she could recognise the home of Wu Ko and her husband, Hiroya. There was the sound of a babe crying somewhere... not an unusual sound in a home where there were young ones to a new family. But as the wailing continued, she knew something was wrong. Why wasn't someone comforting the child?
It was then that she noticed the smell of smoke. Then she saw the light of fire. To her horror, she thought she saw humanoid shapes among the flames.
No. Satsuki turned away, her heart racing as he mind spun.
No... it couldn't be them. This couldn't have happened. Ko had always stopped her. Ko wouldn't let this fire happen. Satsuki wouldn't have let this fire happen near Ko and her family. Because they were her family too, in a way. Maybe not by blood, but by spirit and companionship.
"This has never happened, and never will happen."
With a stomp of her foot, Satsuki dispelled the nightmare, and fell into a deep almost dreamless slumber.
