The Day of Thunder

In his tent, Akutou's eyes snap open.

Somethin's there.

He tries t' reach f'r his sword, but his arm won't move.

Why won't his arm move?

Did he get et on by the wolf an' didn't know it?

What th' hell is goin' on?

A strange being approaches him. It's unclear at first, but as it gets closer, he can make out details, despite the darkness. A metal rod pierces through its upper chest, replacing its shoulders. On one side is a heavy stone mill wheel, forcing it to lean to the side. On its other side is another rod attached to the first, itself attached to a long blade as a sort of forearm.

Its skin is stretched and pulled by the mill wheel, slowly being ground and leaving a trail of mutilated gore behind it.

It's throat as a gaping hole in it, bleeding slowly down its chest.

Akutou realizes it must be a dream, though. That he must be asleep on some level, despite seeing his campsite. So this... must be a dream.

It disappears, along with any evidence that it might have been their, and sleep comes on quickly.

Th' hell was that? Akutou thinks as he sinks back into slumber.

His dreams are strange but do not remain with him.
