It made no sense why Shinsei was attacking them ... it was clearly not-Shinsei, some fiendish creature just like the not-Ayako that she had dreamed about earlier that night. And now, suddenly, they were in battle.

Ayako wasn't sure if she wasn't still dreaming; everything seemed to move so slowly in her vision. Did the pile of feathers just make a noise? Everything seemed so strange, but instinctively the Crab fell back on her training: protect the shugenja. Ayako stepped between not-Shinsei and the Satsuki, to try to buy the Dragon more time to work her magic.

Shinsei flexed his hands "such strength." his voice strange and dull but muted emotions hidden behind it.

He looked up his eyes more docile but a battle hidden behind them "so you are the protector then? Strong Matsu we've seen much about you." he closed the distance between them in an instant his hands were a blur striking Matsu in the solar plexus and diaphragm and a strong kick at her legs looking to topple the Amazonian woman.

"So many toys." he says before his skin shifts seemingly hardening like stone

As Ukyo was out of immediate danger it seemed, Satsuki turned her attention to the danger in front of them. "Matsu!" Even if Ayako stood between them, she could still see the punishment the legendary woman had been taking so far.

Pushed on by Matsu's presence, even now, the daughter of the Dragon channeled her inner as a line of blood formed on her arm. "Fuck you, even if you are Shinsei!" The Shinsei her mother had spoken of wouldn't do this!

The blood formed into an orb of fire in the palm of her hand, which streak out towards 'Shinsei'.

As if in a dream, Ayako saw brave Matsu fall in slow motion, then the corrupted Shinsei monster was upon her, fists flying. Instinct took over as the Crab warrior blocked every attack with her axe.

“I won’t let you hurt anyone else,” Ayako heard herself say to not-Shinsei. “You’ll have to go through me.”

Ayako noticed not-Shinsei's muscles seeming to grow as she narrowly dodged his fist. Was he weakening? Was he getting stronger? It was impossible to say.

But the others were depending on her; the Crab certainly was not going to "stop fighting" now.

Satsuki's green eyes flickered over the scene... Shinsei seemed to be arguing with himself?

It made her reconsider her tactics for a moment. Small fires still danced along her arm where the blood was visible, burning away the sleeve of her robe to reveal the magnificent tattooed dragon on her arm. But the intensity was less now as she shifted her focus to the earth. "Don't give up yet."

However, the fire was still in strength, and her rapport with the earth kami was imbalanced now.

"Fucking donkey," she muttered grimly, and refocused again on 'Shinsei'. Hopefully the searing pain of the flames would make him snap out of it!

As much as she wanted to help Matsu and Ayako, even Ukyo too, there was only so much she could do within the span of the seconds it was taking this 'Shinsei' to beat up her allies. And she needed to trust in her fire for now.
