[Tyrus]

Genji goes down feeling his strength and vitality leave him as it is sucked away by the monstrous man. Anjing sees an ethereal stream leave the stag boys body and flow into Kujo, the indent her weapon left shallowing as he does.

Sora continues his fight against the undead, viciously slashing the one from earlier its body barely functional at this point. He rushes past them to guard Ai at the expense of his own defenses. The undead pursued him their Claws and rending into him nit so deeply as before but they were wearing down the tough old man.

Ai moves down swiftly her blade slicing deeply into the monster which let out a shrill shriek of pain. Followed by more as Anjing laid into it with her weapon. He was inhumanly tough but his body was breaking with each blow.

Kujo had the look of a cornered animal a Frenzied fear in his eyes as he once again opens a gaping maw and tries to wrench the essence out of all the nearby samurai.

She needed to buy time for her allies so she pushed it to the edge… and stayed reckless in her powerful strikes, she wanted to just make sure she kept him on the back foot but the creature was hardy and she knew that it would easily weather the glancing strikes but maybe it would be enough so that Sora and Anjing could handle the rest.

“Kujo-san! You were supposed to mourn the dead, not join them!” she shouted.

OOC: ATN is now 15 after being Full Attack for 2 Simple Action attacks with 2 CR for extra damage and of course Sakkaku gives me nice rolls... so much for being conservative! Total wounds is 49 wounds (11 and 38).

[Anjing]

Anjing grunts as she feels the monster wrenching her very essence from her body, and worse, Genji!

She spits in Kujo's face before turning, herself, Ai and Sora reacting in a blur. As the Crane continued hammering Kujo and Sora dragged Genji out of the line of fire Anjing launches herself onto the remaining zombies with a roar, slamming her tetsubo into one before rolling to scythe at the other's legs, stomping hard on its skull as it fell to the ground.

Now there was only one.

It was now Anjing who felt her very essence being consumed by the monster his cuts growing closed as he breathed it in. She felt some of her vitality leave her.

Kujo roared as his prize was dragged away but he was driven back by Ai's strikes her first simply glanced off his strange thick and tough skin but her second cut deeply the moster moving with a limping gait now unable to pursue his prey he turned to the Crane screeching at her "Joiiin meeee Aiiiii, we could live foreevverrr" his eyes were mad with fear and desperation as he continued to try and sap their life energy.

Anjing had dispatched the zombies with ease as Sora pulled Genji's nearly lifeless body to safety.

"Never. My allegiance is to the Crane, AUTOCRACY!" she continued her assault her attacks starting to flag but still they were expertly delivered trying to find weakness in the monster's defenses. Her assault would not relent.

Sora set Genji down, checked his pulse, grimaced, and then scraped the edge of his sword against his most depleted jade finger.

[As discussed, Sora hasn't got the movement to even try to land a hit this round, so he's jading up his sword if it becomes required.]

[Anjing]

Again she feels an ugly tug within her essence as the monster seems to rip her very life force out of her body. Genji's safe, it's time to put this creature down.

As Ai cuts into Kujo, Anjing dashes forward slamming the shaft of her weapon into one of its eyes as it reels back before pivoting to the side and shifting her weight to deliver a devastating swing from her tetusbo into the side of its head.

He drained some of their life force but they held onto enough he could not heal himself faster than they could hurt him. His body already ravaged by Ai's katana, Anjing rained blows down that cracked and shattered bone again and again.

His body crumpled into a pile His voice weak but laced with panic "noooooo, pleaseee I'm not ready...im scared...." He took a few labored breaths before his final rattled out and Kujo was left to face the darkness of his greatest fear.

Now with time to assess themselves the fighters stood victorious but at no small cost their bodies aged noticeably Anjing and Genji worse off but Ai not untouched.

"Well. Shit."

Sora crouched down beside Genji.

"You're all starting to look like me!"

He winced a bit, but clearly regarded himself as the least-injured.

"Someone should probably find a shugenja for Genji here."

[Nanzi Ai]

Blade sheathed.

Ai knelt down by Kujo’s side or what was left of him and said, “Find rest wayward child, I wish I had been… I wish this end had been different. Do not fear what is on the other side. I will speak with the villagers and see if Kujo has any family, but for now we burn the remnants and the things defiled in the graves.”

“Kujo-san, your fear drove you to become the very thing I warned you about… I am sorry. I have failed you, Kujo-san, I have failed you.”

[Anjing]

Anjing feels the side of her face and then her forehead with a sigh, hefting her blood splattered club over one shoulder.

"Really starting to hate this village. Tsssk, and look what they did to poor Genji. We're agreed then burn the bodies and get Genji to a healer, Tai often stays up late, she might have time for him."

As she walks past Ai to assist Sora with the prostrate Hantei she adds a quiet "It's not your fault, none of this is your fault" before continuing on.

[Jiyo Sora]

Sora quietly offered a prayer to Emma-O.

Don't judge him too harshly. He was cozened.

"You know, Lady Anjing, I take it back. Might be we can become friends someday."

[Nanzi Ai]

Ai nodded to her auntie, though she felt very much at fault she knew she could mourn later now was the work. This was the true evil of the enemy, turning us against each other through our weakness, our fears, and our shortcomings.

She had to be better.

For the Empire, her family, the Crane, and for Kujo.

[Anjing]

"You know, Lady Anjing, I take it back. Might be we can become friends someday."

"Ha! Everyone who sees me fight feels the same way."
Some of her good humour returns as she bends down with a grunt and throws Genji over her shoulder.

"But, it was not unpleasant Sora. I've drawn steel alongside worse, I'm proud to have battled alongside you Ai and Genji today."

[Jiyo Sora]

"You all did well."

He whispered to Genji.

"Yeah, you too, kid. Hang in there."

[Nanzi Ai]

Ai was preening, it was like living the stories her father had told her oh so many times. Except the heroes were real and standing right next to you.

She frowned looking at Genji but thankful he would come through. Hell would not get the honored son of Hantei.

[Ryoshun Nao]

Ryoshun Nao had been returning from the shrine area when she heard the sounds of battle. She ran towards the graveyard and arrived just as the final blow brought the creature down. She took in the scene quickly and spotted Genji.

She raced to his side. "How badly is be hurt?"

[Kaiu Tai]

Even with the festival keeping folks busy, a few nervous voices had spread rumors of hearing something out toward the graveyard. There was not reason to think that would be anything good, given how cursed everything around the village seemed to be. And then it seemed Anjing wasn't about the camp when Tai looked to mention that maybe she'd go look into things. Well...that may have hurried her steps a bit.

So she wasn't entirely surprised to see the daimyo there. The stink of crushed zombies though, that was new. Her walking stick/spear was held a bit more defensively than usual as she approached. "What happened? And who're you carting like a sack of rice?"
