Tae-soo is the first one to move forward, still chanting. He moves closer, looking for a strategic position, then whispers, even while chanting.

As soon as he finishes the last word, a tidal wave rises, seemingly out of nowhere, rushing towards the Harbonger and some of its retinue, threatening to sweep them from their footing

The samurai jumped into action Anjing smashing into a totem its strange body cracking as the thing screamed, then Kai pounced their katana slashing the damaged effigy nearly splitting it but it barely remained standing.

The Harbinger glared at the group and grabbed a cultists arm pulling it up almost gently, the person didn't resist. She smiled down "Thank you my sweet." and took one razor sharp claw and opened their wrist their crimson essence spilling out misting and The harbinger's arm shot out and the red mist forced its way into three of the samurai's lungs and they felt an intense searing pain as the mist exploded out again tearing their throats as it did. The cultist turned pale and barely held on to consciousness.

The figure, who had previously jumped out and back in the shadows in perfect silence, leaving no trace it was ever there other than a dent on the side of the cursed effigy, pounced again.

This time however, it was with the ferocity of the tiger, the blade cutting strong and deep the artificial monster already quite battered by the old chieftain, ending up the job of splitting it in two unequal halves.

Rather than depart once again, it then turned its claws toward the next monster, unrelenting in its aggression.

Seeing the Harbinger grab a cultist, Tae-soo instinctively takes a step back, hurrying the last few words of the prayer he was saying. A dragon-like image appears and and flies around in splashes, moving from Tae-soo to Kaijari to Anjing even as the red mist starts flowing into their lungs.

The spirit-caster grunts as he feels his throat close, coughs out blood, then moves back, perhaps surprisingly swiftly.

Okay, the blood magic would not do. Stopping her horse since it looked like no one was pursuing her, Ohta turned and pulled her bow back with a smoother motion. Firing at the cultist whose blood the Harbinger had used, an arrow thunked into them solidly.

Anjing grins at Kai as they cut into the effigy, but then she feels a horrid burning sensation in her lungs as the Harbinger gestures at them. The Crab falls down to one knee, bracing herself with her club as she hacks up blood. Fortunes, it was no good to be old.

She stands with a snarl, teeth painted red and her face a mask of rage as she gazes at the cultists.

"You were warned."

Again she launches herself forward, weapon raised overhead as she brought it down again and again on the slaves to darkness. Today really was about turning dreams into reality.

Ohta's arrow sinks into the cultist on the ground taking the last of their life just as Anjing rushes behind and absolutely breaks the other cultist. Her first blow driving them on their back and the second a vicious blow of finality.

The Harbinger shrieks in fury and launches into Anjing with black claws slashing and cutting the woman.

The effigy Kai attacked swung back with unnaturally powerful fists.

Anjing laughs, spitting blood into Harbinger's face even as the demon savages her, even as the maho burns in her lungs.

"Girl, for all your scheming and plotting and your little cult. For all your mastery of Yume-do. You forgot the most basic lesson."
She feels Tae-soo's magic flash, a little thing amidst the wounds she was suffering. But it was in the right place, her lungs cleared.

"Teamwork makes the dream work, bitch."

She raises her club and starts pounding the Harbinger with her own weapon, slamming it into her again and again in a fury.

[Haka Tae-soo]

As the Harbinger's claws hit Anjing, a blueish light in the shape of a Dragon shines from within the Crab and centres on the points where she's hit. The same happens with Kai as she's hit by the Effigy. It's not always a great respite, but it alleviates at least some of the pain - and each of them feel their lungs clearing up, allowing them to breathe properly.

Even as he sees the Harbinger striking at Anjing, Tae-soo takes his knife to his wrist - again prompting the same blueish sheen, which similarly alleviates his breathing.

"Kind spirit of the River, please keep us strong so we may purge this poison from your course!"

Somehow, the poison seemed to be affecting Tae-soo's friend. The water did move to his aid... but only barely.

Ohta saw the demon lady keep slashing at Anjing, though fortunately the prayers Haka-san had given seemed to be keeping her on her feet. Once again Ohta found herself wishing she could do more for them. Grunting angrily she fired an arrow, this time at the effigy shielding the monster.

This arrow hit home, the fact its target was making itself a target helping immensely.

"No quip? Nothing about how we're all doomed?"
Anjing is flung through the wall of a house, tearing clean through the paper before jumping up and charging with her tetsubo like a lance, sending her and the Harbinger sprawling across the where she uses the better position to rain more blows down on the demon even as the creature snarled and stabbed its claws into her.

Miraculously the deep wounds seem to glow and fuse back together almost as fast as they're opened. That Tae-Soo, she'd always said he was a good boy.

"It's hard to think when your life is on the line, isn't it? All that fear you spread-" she slams the club down "-how does it feel?"
She is again launched off the demon, skidding back a few feet in the dust, still grinning.

"Because it's just you now, you and us."
She gestures at the rest of the warriors, Tae-Soo, Kai, Ohta (slightly further away, it's an expansive gesture).
"When you dreamed of your victory, did it look like four mortals kicking you to death in the street?"
